Privacy policy

This privacy policy explains how CNC Software collects, uses, stores and protects personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). It applies to enquiries, training requests, licence support, post-processor work and other services handled through our contact channels.

Who is responsible for your information

CNC Software operates as a South African supplier of CAD/CAM software licences, custom post-processors and CNC training services. The operator of this site and the party responsible for processing personal information is Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd, acting on behalf of the business. Our team may access your information only where it is needed to respond to an enquiry, arrange support, or deliver a service you requested.

We handle information for shops and individuals across Pretoria, Johannesburg, Vereeniging, Durban, Cape Town, the East Rand and the West Rand, as well as Centurion and surrounding areas. The information we collect is limited to what is necessary for lawful business purposes.

What information we collect

We collect personal information that you choose to submit through the enquiry form on our contact page, and information gathered when we support a licence, training session or implementation. This may include your name, company name, role, contact details, location, machine type, software requirements and details about the job or workflow you want us to assist with.

  • Contact and identification details provided in an enquiry
  • Business and machine information relevant to a quote or support request
  • Communication records, service notes and training bookings
  • Technical details needed for licence installation or post-processor setup

How we use personal information

We use personal information to respond to enquiries, prepare quotations, install licences, configure custom post-processors, support machine onboarding and arrange operator, programmer or owner training. We also use it to carry out first job support, remote troubleshooting, workflow audits, tool library builds and annual support plans where applicable.

Where a customer asks for on-site work, we may use the information to plan travel, access requirements and timing around production schedules, power interruptions or factory rules. In some cases, we may also keep internal records so that future support is quicker and more accurate.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell personal information. We may share information only with staff, contractors or service providers who need it to perform work on our behalf, such as booking administration, hosting, document handling or technical support. Those parties are required to keep information confidential and use it only for the agreed purpose.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or if it is needed to protect our rights, prevent fraud or resolve a technical or payment dispute. Any disclosure is limited to what is reasonably necessary.

Storage, security and retention

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure. This includes access control, password protection and limited internal access on a need-to-know basis. Like any business, we also plan for interruptions such as load-shedding, and we keep important records backed up where practical.

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, for legal compliance, or for proper business records. When information is no longer required, we delete or archive it securely.

  • Access is restricted to authorised staff only
  • Records are retained for lawful and operational purposes
  • Unused data is removed or archived securely

Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate information, or to object to certain processing where the law allows. You may also ask us to delete information where retention is no longer required by law or legitimate business need. If you want to exercise these rights, please use the enquiry form on our contact page.

We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. This protects you and prevents unauthorised changes to your records.

  • Request access to your personal information
  • Ask for correction or deletion where allowed
  • Object to processing in certain circumstances
  • Withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis

Cookies, links and policy updates

Our site may use basic cookies or similar tools to improve functionality and understand general site use. These tools do not usually identify you on their own, but they may form part of a broader record when combined with an enquiry. If you follow links to other sites, their privacy practices will apply to your use of those sites.

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal duties or operational needs. The current version will always apply from the date it is published.
